A little while back I was lucky enough to win second place in the Running Room's Ultimate Run contest on Pinterest. I blogged about it all in this post here. I was flattered to have been chosen and then thoroughly excited when I found out my prize was a free pair of shoes, any shoes of my choice, from the Running Room!
Automatically my mind went straight to a shiny new pair of Mizunos but I thought I should seize the opportunity for what it was and investigate all the options. Since the Running Room staff are so knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to selecting the right shoes, I figured I'd go do the full deal and see what they suggested.
I posted about my fitting experience here and ended up bring home a new pair of Mizuno Wave Enigma 2's...
I wasn't entirely sure about the color at first but they felt so darn good on my feet, they could have been rainbow stripes and I wouldn't have cared. And now that I've worn them a few times I really like the purple and black, especially since they're so different in colour from the rest of my shoes.
So how do they feel you ask? Fantastic!
I've only run twice in them and both were hamster wheel runs but so far they feel wonderful. They're quite different than my tried and true Wave Riders - they feel really light on my feet but my feet feel really low down in the shoe, kind of cradled inside. They feel sturdy but light at the same time. So far I think they're great and I'm looking forward to taking them for a long run.
And, as you may have noticed in this post, I am actually referring to some runs. Yes, runs that I actually ran this week! Ha ha. I'm not looking for a pat on the back but after a week of absolutely no running I feel like I've already accomplished tons by having run twice this week so far. I've decided I need to get back into the habit of getting my runs and workouts done during nap time - that way I don't have to feel bad if I wanna lay low come evening because the work is already done!
Thursday I'm heading back up to the cabin for one last vacation hurrah before the fall is upon us. Our weather has gotten a little cool here in Vancouver so heading back to the Okanagan where it's supposedly still hot and sunny will be a welcome treat.
Thanks for the suggestions on what helps you get out of a running rut and feel motivated - I think running in a brand spanking new pair of shoes has already got me feeling more motivated. :o)
