My week in running and other things...

I love it when I can sit back on Sunday night and feel like I had a good week.  And this week I did.  It was a good week of running, of training and other things, ending with a great weekend away at the cabin.

Here's a little recap:

In running...

Tuesday night I managed to get out to the Houston Trail to meet my Goofy group for a nice 4km run.  I decided to squeeze it in before barre class and ended up being a bit short on time.  Oops.  My easy 4km turned into how-fast-can-I-get-this-done-so-I'm-not-late-for-barre-class.

Wednesday and Thursday I did both of my runs on the treadmill.  Nothing exciting but I sure enjoyed listening to some of the new tunes I put on my iPod.  Music can make such a difference!  Managed to do my Mojo Jar challenge of sprinting the last 3 mins for both of these runs.  Yay!

Saturday I was at the cabin and did my 7km on the lake road with my sister.  Such a beautiful morning but I sure felt bad when a few kms into the run she confessed she was wearing running shoes that were 1.5 sizes too small!  (She had forgotten hers at home and was wearing whatever she could find at the cabin...)  We had such a nice run though and even stopped for some geeky photo ops along the way...

Doesn't get much better than running
on the lake road!
And here's my awesome arm warmers...
Just having a little fun - who wouldn't wanna lay in the middle of the road for a photo!
Sunday I did my run late in the afternoon because we were busy driving home from the cabin in the morning.  I sooooo didn't feel like heading out for 10km at 4:30pm (especially since I had fast food for lunch - yum, road food) but I did and I was so glad in the end.  It just turned out to be one of those epic runs.  The weather was perfect, my music was so awesome I almost couldn't stand it and I just felt great the whole way.  I love those runs!

In training...

Beyond running I made it to barre class once this week (on Tuesday) and my usual pilates class on Wednesday.  Barre is turning out to be so much fun.  Tuesday night has a different teacher than I have had before and she totally kicked our butts.  It's only been a few weeks but I can tell that these classes are working my butt and hips in a really great way.  It's just what I need for my running I think.  And pilates was good too.  My original teacher from a few years ago was subbing for our regular teacher and it was great to visit afterwards and catch up.  I am so so weak but I am really enjoying the pilates too.  It feels good to be back doing some of the things I used to before the kids.

In other things...

As mentioned, we headed off to the cabin for the weekend.  We went with my sister and her husband and all the kids stayed home with Nana and Papa. We were heading up for a cousin's wedding and also to take care of the boat and get it put away for the winter.  It was a real treat to go kidless and we had a fun time at the wedding.

It was super neat and since my cousin (the groom) is a musician, had kind of a rock and roll sort of theme.  There were skulls and cross bones everywhere and he even wrote and recorded the music that the bride walked down the aisle to.  Very cool.

Personalized skeleton wine labels...

Cute coasters too...
So all in all it was a great week.  I feel good about how my running is going and other things in life are just settling in nicely too.  My oldest son started preschool in the past few weeks and thankful it's going really well.  Despite being a bit reluctant to be dropped off the last time, he seems to really enjoy it and it is so fun as a mom hearing about what they did while I was gone.  I can only imagine how excited things get as your kids get older and go off to real school and have little lives away from you.  This week is a big one because it's their first "party day" on Thursday where all the parents can come and the kids perform songs and they celebrate all the birthdays for the month.  Fun.

Anyhow, that's about all for now...
