After such an uplifting weekend in that regard it's funny to think about boosting my mojo since I'm kind of on a runner's high. But that's what's been great about our little Mojo Jar Monday adventures is that they've totally helped me get that mojo back which has made my training runs better and therefore my racing better too.
Last week the challenge was to do 4x400 speed intervals. Yuck. While I've incorporated our Mojo Jar challenges into multiple runs every week so far, this was one I definitely only did once last week. And even kind of reluctantly at that!
Luckily the blocks around my house are very close to 400m in length so it was pretty easy to do speed intervals just by running up and down each street. I despised every moment but even I have to admit that I felt great afterwards having completed something I find so very hard to do. Thanks Cori for throwing that one into the jar, it was good for me in the end.
So what about this week?
And just to be sure you can read what that says...
Multitask! Combine strength training and running by running to a playground and then creating an on-the-spot strength workout at the park. You can do stairs, pull-ups, monkey bars etc. Be sure to document some of your moves with photos and then run home.
Crap. I wrote that one and I was kinda dreading when it would get pulled. I mean, it sounded fun at the time I wrote it, but now I actually have to go out and do it. Ha ha. I think I might do this one under the cover of dusk so that fewer people see me and laugh at me.
I guess that's the whole spirit of the Mojo Jar though. We dreamt it up as a way to inject a bit of fun and variety into our training and to help lift those running spirits. It's worked so far so I can only imagine how great I'll feel after goofing off all over the playground and calling it strength training! Photos to follow...
I totally think it's working. My mojo has been on the rise ever since we kicked it off! We rock, btw.
