I think as runners we all tend to fret about what will be the perfect outfit to wear for a big race. I know I hem and haw every time and go back and forth about what I plan to wear. And of course, my planned outfit changes daily as near race day.
You may remember the crazy fashion show I boggled myself with trying to decide what to wear for this year's BMO Vancouver Half Marathon! (Hee hee, in going back for that link I see that I even titled that post something similar, "Runwear Roulette"! Geesh, I guess I need new material...)
Anyhow, imagine the crazy race day outfit consideration that is going on in my head as we approach the Goofy Challenge! 3 races in 3 days in a totally different climate from where I am now. A much warmer climate. And one whose forecast has gone from cloudy and rainy to sunny/partly cloudy and way warmer temperatures!
Currently, here's what we're looking at for WDW Marathon Weekend...
Now I figure it will be pretty cool in the mornings since we have to leave our hotel at some ungodly hour like 3:30am. The warm temps shouldn't bug me for the 5k which is being held at 6:30a and should be done by about 7:00am. The half marathon starts at 5:30am and I should be done by about 7:30ish considering how long it will take for my corral to get to the start line. Again, the heat shouldn't be a problem.
But the marathon is where things could get tricky. It too starts at 5:30 and considering my corral placement I am thinking I will be finishing somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00pm. This is assuming I can do somewhere between a 5 and 6 hour marathon which at this point is total speculation but I am hoping, doable. Anyhow, the point is, by then it could be pretty warm so I'll have to be sure not to over dress on Sunday.
So I've been diligently watching this forecast as it's changed and mentally calculating what I should wear each day. I think I've got things mostly sorted out but even at that, I have my planned outfits and then a whole lot of options I can choose to modify depending on how I feel when I'm actually in Florida.
Tonight I sorted through this plan and laid things out and here's what I've got:
For the 5k I have my modified Minnie Mouse costume. That's right, Minnie ears, gloves and a red tutu with blinking lights in it and I have white polka dots I'm going to add. I'm also toying with the idea of adding a white collar to my tank like Minnie's collar on her dress. For the half marathon I'm thinking of my Lulu running skirt and a tank. For the full marathon I'm bringing out the big guns and wearing my most comfortable Lulu capris, a nice light tank top and if it happens to be super hot I have shorts as an option but I like the capris for eliminating any kind of chafing possibilities. I also have my silver Team Sparkle skirt that I'd really like to wear so I might add that for either the half or full marathon. I also have coordinating Sparkly Soul headbands for each day.
My "options" pile includes a long sleeve top, a spare pair of capris, a few different tank tops, a short sleeve and various extras like hats, gloves, socks etc. I'm also thinking of bringing some throwaway shirts but might just opt for the oh-so-stylish-but-extremely-convenient-and-small-to-pack garbage bag instead.
I'm sure things will change once I get there but I feel pretty good about my plan. How are you doing with your outfit planning for WDW Marathon weekend?

I think I've got my race outfits planned...I'll just make a call whether it wil be a short sleeve shirt for the full or my tri top. Depends on how warm it is I suppose! It is the rest of my trip I'm fretting over. I'm trying not to overpack so I think I'll just be wearing a bunch of gym shorts and tech tees around the park.
ReplyDeleteToo funny - I have a post like this almost ready to go!
ReplyDeleteMy race outfits are planned and the guesswork on tops was taken out of it since I have to be clad in TNT. Like Leana, I'm just having trouble with the out and about clothes. Right now, I have about 4 pairs of capris packed and some tshirts. and almost everything is black :( I need a serious suitcase overhaul. Where are Clinton and Stacy when I need them?!?!
